Simulation
Models and Simulations
A Model helps us to look at the effect of changing one variable on the result.
Here are some examples of models you can investigate online:
- Flightline Villas - find a villa to stay in on holiday that suits your budget
- Expedia.co.uk - plan a holiday: flights, hotel and car hire too!
- thetrainline.com - book train tickets online and find out their cost. Your teacher can give you a user name and password for this site.
A Simulation tries to be more realistic, changing lots of variables and trying to find out how the system works in the real world.
You can find some simulations online as well as on the school network.
- Bridge builder is in the shared area at school or can be found at bridgebuilder-game.com. You can try out different designs of bridge to get a train across a river.
Planet 10 is a simulation at Science Year that allows you to design your own planet and see if it can support life, or fly through our solar system- Enigmacode simulates the famous enigma code machines that the Germans used in WW2. The code was cracked by the British Secret Service, but you can use it now online! It is reversible - create a code, enter it again to decypher it!
